DISNEY VILLAGE — WHAT CHANGES NEXT

Disneyland Paris published its latest Disney Village roadmap on 17 September 2026. The district sits between the Disney Parks and Disney Hotels and functions as the resort’s main shopping, dining and entertainment zone. The current transformation began in stages rather than with one all-at-once closure, which is why visitors can encounter brand-new venues beside construction areas and long-established businesses.

The first phase dates back to December 2023, when Brasserie Rosalie opened. Since then, Disney Village has added or reworked restaurants, boutiques, façades and public spaces. Disneyland Paris says that first chapter is now entering its final stretch, while designers are preparing to move attention across the main thoroughfare to the area it calls the South Block.

For travellers, that means “Disney Village is open” and “Disney Village is under construction” can both be true at the same time. The resort is deliberately phasing work so the district keeps operating, but individual restaurants, shops and entertainment spaces can have different closure or reopening dates.

The most immediate change is Disney Wonders, a new Disney Village boutique opening on 22 September 2026. Disneyland Paris describes it as a bright, contemporary shopping space built around Disney storytelling rather than a conventional souvenir-store layout.

The façade uses original artwork inspired by Peter Pan, Star Wars and Toy Story. Inside, the design moves through themed areas covering Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars, with two central chandeliers featuring more than 40 character and location illustrations, plus illuminated displays and separate transaction areas celebrating Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar.

If you are visiting around opening week, the useful point is the date rather than the hype: 22 September is the confirmed opening day. Disneyland Paris published that date separately on 10 September and repeated it in the broader transformation update a week later.

A major dining addition is Casa Giulia, the Italian restaurant being developed with Groupe Bertrand, the operator behind Brasserie Rosalie. The current Disneyland Paris update says it is scheduled to open by the end of 2026 at the entrance to Disney Village, near the cinema and World of Disney.

The two-storey venue is planned with around 260 seats plus a 120-seat outdoor terrace. Its menu is centred on Italian classics, with ingredients and dishes changing with the seasons. A separate quick-service area, Giulia Express, will sell pizza by the slice, focaccia, pastries and Italian-style ice cream, with its own 40-seat outdoor terrace.

Meanwhile, Annette’s Diner remains closed for a major refurbishment. Disneyland Paris says the 1950s-inspired restaurant is set to reopen in the first quarter of 2027. The work includes expanded kitchens, a completely redesigned dining room, restored jukeboxes, new booth seating, exterior terrace work and new photo spots.

Those dates are useful if a particular restaurant is part of your nostalgia list. A late-2026 visitor should not assume Annette’s is available, while someone travelling in early 2027 should still check the official resort app or website before treating a reopening target as a guaranteed meal booking.

The Pathé cinema, which first opened in 1997, is also being extensively refurbished. Disneyland Paris says the project will introduce a new façade, fully refurbished auditoriums with recliner seating, upgraded projection, a Pathé Café, a reworked Häagen-Dazs area with an outdoor terrace and a Pathé Games zone.

The important operational detail is that the work is being delivered in phases, allowing the cinema to remain largely open. The broader 17 September update says the first stage begins in September, with the transformed cinema experience targeted for 2027.

Vapiano is due for its own major redesign from the end of 2026. The restaurant’s interior will be modernised, the upper floor will gain a children’s play area and the terrace will receive new furniture and planting. Disneyland Paris’s dedicated July update says the restaurant is expected to stay open while the phased work takes place, with completion planned for early 2027.

For families, that phased approach is good news, but it also makes “open” a less precise description than usual: you may find a venue trading while parts of the experience around it are still being rebuilt.

The biggest forward-looking change is the move to the South Block, the opposite side of the main Disney Village thoroughfare from the area that has been the focus of the first transformation phase. Walt Disney Imagineering Paris, Operating Participants and Design & Delivery are already working on the plans, with construction due to begin in 2027.

The concept art released with the announcement continues the newer architectural language of wood, brick and perforated steel. Disneyland Paris has not yet published the full list of replacement concepts for this block, so any detailed line-up beyond what has been formally announced should be treated as speculation.

One consequence, however, is confirmed: Rainforest Café will close permanently by the end of 2026. Disneyland Paris says more detail on the South Block changes will be shared in the months ahead.

If Rainforest Café is a must-do because of family tradition or nostalgia, this is the practical deadline to watch. The official wording is “by the end of 2026”, not a specific final service date, so check directly with Disneyland Paris before making a special journey for one last visit.

Disney Village is still intended to function as the resort’s between-the-parks hub throughout this transformation. The sensible planning approach is to treat individual venues as moving parts rather than expecting the district to have one single “open” or “closed” status.

• Check the exact venue before travel. Restaurant and refurbishment dates can shift, and the official Disneyland Paris app or website should win over an older saved itinerary.
• Build flexibility into dining. If your first-choice restaurant is closed or under refurbishment, have a second option rather than crossing the resort at peak meal time with no backup.
• For 22 September onward, add Disney Wonders if shopping matters. The confirmed opening gives late-September visitors one genuinely new stop.
• For late-2026 trips, watch both Casa Giulia and Rainforest Café. One is due to open by year-end while the other is due to close permanently by year-end.
• For 2027, expect more change rather than a finished district. Annette’s Diner, the cinema, Vapiano and the South Block all have work or reopening milestones extending into the year.

There is also a small seasonal upside: Disneyland Paris says Disney Village will receive additional Christmas decorations and photo opportunities from November, including festive touches around Sports Bar & Lounge. That does not change the construction programme, but it does mean the district is still being programmed as a place to linger, not merely a corridor between the parks and hotels.
